the last days of judas iscariot
In the Last Days of Judas Iscariot, I took a back seat and the resident set designer & props master assumed her original role. Though not a musical like the other two, it proved no less interesting or challenging.
For TLDOJI, my primary roles were that of painter and stage hand. I directed the larger parts of painting the set, having done so in the last two plays, and worked with the crew of students on the brickwork. As a neat idea, the set designer allowed the cast and crew to vandalize the set how they please. It was meant to look like a back alley court room in a run down part of town. In this regard, we were absolutely successful. My own personal contribution is the stencil of the Virgin Mary on the left most door. As a stage hand I was lovingly referred to as “Satan’s Little Helper;” I spent a majority of my time coordinating with the actress portraying Lucifer and operated her grand entrance through the grate built into the floor. With it came a bit of red lighting to cast her silhouette on the wall and a bit of fog for dramatic effect.
