Addams family
This was my second production as a set designer. again i worked with susan polster at the ne playhouse for tarrant county college, but aesthetically this show was very different than legally blonde. for obvious reasons. i used similar concepts to tackle issues concerning space, but had more fun with the color palette.
In the Addams Family, I once again acted as Set Designer and met similar challenges to Legally Blonde, but with a gothic twist. As a community playhouse, this play was also largely successful. We again made clever use of some set pieces that doubled as others, with exception of the main hall. The main hall scenes, pictured first were a unique hurdle in that it had to be hidden off-stage. To do this, we reconstructed and repurposed the original design of my Legally Blonde stair unit and made it so that it could be disassembled at the joints where the stairs meet the landings. All told, the cast had 15 seconds to assemble it onstage and it looks far better than anticipated. The main drape which acted as our corridor during certain scenes was also a special project of the prop master and myself; she designed the wonderful portraits and I designed the skull themed wallpaper for use on it. Again, an enormous success.
